Schools, when your government assures you that they know what's best for children...

Teachers, when your school assures you that they know what's best for children...

Parents, when your teachers assure you that they know what's best for children...

...please take a moment to remember that teachers of the past also thought they knew what was best for children, and today, about 25% of America's population thinks the Sun revolves around the Earth.

It's hard to remember that families and children probably know best when the rest of the world is telling you they have the solution for what will fix schools and best help children, be it school uniforms, makerspaces, vouchers and charters, coding, rigor or any of the other educational buzzwords your hearing right now.

Maybe what we all really need is a nice dose of humility, and accept that it's impossible to know what's best for even the majority of children. And instead push to give power back to families and children when it comes to education.
